• May assist in strengthening and regenerating connective tissue: Collagenics provides therapeutic doses of nutrients specific for supporting the repair of connective tissue.³ Horsetail is a silica containing plant which may assist in strengthening connective tissue by stabilising collagen. Silica has been shown to strongly bind to connective tissue structures including glycosaminoglycans, polysaccharides and mucopolysaccharides.⁴ Manganese plays a role in collagen formation by activating prolidase, an enzyme that provides the amino acid proline for collagen formation.⁵ Vitamin C and lysine also provides nutritional support for connective tissue strength and repair.³
• Healthy formation of skin, bone, joints and cartilage: Vitamin C, D, boron and manganese assist the structural integrity of bone, skin and cartilage.⁶ Manganese is the preferred cofactor of enzymes called glycosyltransferases, which are required for the synthesis of proteoglycans that are needed for the formation of healthy cartilage and bone.⁷ Boron enhances collagenase activity in fibroblasts to modulate the turnover of extracellular matrix in bone.⁶
