Heart Health.

The heart beats around 100,000 times a day and never gets to rest — and that single fact shapes everything it needs. A muscle that can't stop has to generate energy relentlessly, depends on clean, flexible blood vessels, and relies on a precise mineral balance to keep its rhythm steady. Cardiovascular health is the sum of those three things. Our heart collection brings together the nutrients that support the heart muscle's energy, healthy circulation, and the maintenance of cholesterol and blood pressure already within the normal range.

The hardest-working muscle in the body

Cardiac muscle has the highest mitochondrial density of any tissue — up to a third of each heart cell's volume is mitochondria — precisely because it can never switch off. That makes the heart uniquely dependent on CoQ10, which does double duty: it ferries electrons through the energy-production chain and acts as a fat-soluble antioxidant protecting cell membranes. There's a clinically important wrinkle here — statins lower cholesterol by blocking the mevalonate pathway, but that same pathway makes CoQ10, so they deplete it alongside cholesterol. Replacing it (ubiquinol, the reduced form, is better absorbed over 40) is the rationale. See Energy.

Vessels, minerals and rhythm

  • The endothelium — the single-cell lining of every blood vessel — produces nitric oxide, the signal that relaxes and widens vessels. Endothelial health sits upstream of healthy blood pressure, and beetroot/dietary nitrates and arginine feed this pathway.
  • Magnesium — a natural calcium-channel modulator, central to a steady heartbeat and relaxed vessel tone; low magnesium is linked with arrhythmia and raised blood pressure. See Magnesium.
  • Omega-3 (EPA/DHA) — supports healthy triglycerides, helps stabilise the electrical membranes of heart cells, and supplies the resolvins that calm inflammation.
  • Vitamin K2 — activates the protein (matrix Gla protein) that directs calcium into bone and away from artery walls.
  • Plant sterols & garlic — sterols compete with cholesterol for absorption in the gut; garlic is traditionally used to support healthy blood pressure and lipids. See Antioxidants.

Who may benefit

Anyone supporting long-term heart and circulatory health, those maintaining healthy cholesterol and blood pressure within the normal range, and people on statins (which deplete CoQ10).

Frequently asked questions

Why take CoQ10 with statins? Statins reduce the body's own CoQ10 production along with cholesterol, and the heart's enormous mitochondrial load makes replenishing it sensible. Discuss with your practitioner.
Which omega-3 number actually matters? The EPA and DHA content — not the total fish-oil weight. Check the actual EPA/DHA per capsule.
Can these replace heart medication? No — they offer nutritional support and don't replace prescribed treatment. Always involve your doctor in cardiovascular care.
